Strategic Planning

Data led strategic planning and decision making

Key application areas:

  • Rapid street environment assessment

  • Intervention identification, planning and prioritisation

  • Active travel network planning

Widespread active travel in our cities depends on streets that feel welcoming to all, making walking and cycling the most appealing, easy and accessible option for short trips.

Currently, street infrastructure improvements are planned in a fragmented way, creating positive changes in some areas, whilst none in others and failing to join them up to create continuous high quality street environments.

The Healthy Streets Index provides a robust and standardised street rating that enables city-wide planning of improvements and the creation of critical active travel networks.
